Daniel Baker

1791–1857

Daniel Baker was an American Presbyterian minister, evangelist, and educator who served pastorates across the southern United States and played a seminal role in the early Presbyterian Church in Texas, including founding Austin College and later serving as its president. He was widely respected for his revival preaching and missionary labors throughout Georgia, the South, and Texas, and his legacy includes the naming of Daniel Baker College in his honor.
