James McKinney Alexander

1835–1911

James McKinney Alexander (born January 29, 1835, in Waioli, Kauai, Hawaiian Islands) was a Presbyterian minister and missionary who served congregations across the United States and dedicated many years to organizing churches and missionary work, particularly in Hawaii and California. He was educated at Punahou School and Williams College, later preaching, teaching, and authoring works including Mission Life in Hawaii and Islands of the Pacific. Alexander remained active in church leadership and mission efforts throughout his life and died on April 11, 1911, in Oakland, California.
