Richard Howe Allen, D.D.

Richard Howe Allen, D.D. (1821–1892) was a Presbyterian minister and author in 19th-century Philadelphia best known for editing and publishing Leaves From a Century Plant, the official report of the centennial celebration of the Old Pine Street Church (Third Presbyterian Church) in 1868. In that work he helped preserve speeches, historical addresses, and documents related to the church’s first hundred years and its role in Presbyterian life in the city. Allen is buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, reflecting his long association with the city’s ecclesiastical community.
