Thomas Henry Amos (1826–1869) was an African-American Presbyterian minister and missionary who, along with his brother James Ralston Amos, was among the first Black graduates of what became Lincoln University in Oxford, Pennsylvania, and was ordained in 1859 before departing for missionary service in Monrovia, Liberia. During his decade of service in Liberia he ministered to local congregations and helped establish Presbyterian mission work there, remaining until his death in 1869; he is buried in Palm Grove Cemetery in Monrovia. The brothers’ pioneering legacy is commemorated at Lincoln University, where Amos Hall honors their contributions to church leadership and African mission.
