William Munford Baker, Sr.

1825–1883

William Mumford Baker was an American Presbyterian minister and author, born in Washington, D.C., who graduated from Princeton College and Seminary and served long pastorates in Austin, Texas, and later in Ohio and Massachusetts. He was known for his numerous writings—including Inside: A Chronicle of Secession and a biography of his father, Daniel Baker—and remained a devoted preacher and church leader until his death.
