Isaac L. Anderson, D.D. (March 26, 1780 – January 28, 1857) was an American Presbyterian minister and educator who founded the Southern and Western Theological Seminary in Maryville, Tennessee in 1819, which was later renamed Maryville College and remains one of the oldest colleges in the region. He served for many years as pastor of New Providence Presbyterian Church and as president and professor of the seminary and college, shaping generations of ministers and citizens in the Southwest; a detailed life and ministry are recounted in the Memoir of Rev.
