Abraham Anderson, D.D. (December 7, 1789 – May 9, 1855) was an American Associate Presbyterian minister and educator born near Newville, Pennsylvania, who studied at Jefferson College and, after ordination in 1821, served pastorates in Steele Creek and Bethany (Back Creek), North Carolina, and later at Hebron, New York. A scholar and churchman, Anderson taught languages at Jefferson College from 1818 to 1821 and later served as Professor in the Theological Seminary of the Associate Church at Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, as well as Professor Extraordinary of Hebrew there and at Jefferson College until his death. Throughout his life he combined pastoral ministry with academic service in theology and languages, published a number of pamphlets and lectures, and was remembered for his broad learning and commitment to church education.
