The Way of Salvation: A Sermon Delivered at Morris-Town, New Jersey, February 8, 1829

Albert Barnes explains the Christian way of salvation: God's sovereign mercy, not human works, saves by the washing of regeneration and the Holy Spirit. Sinners must wholly surrender in faith.

Albert Barnes was an influential American Presbyterian theologian, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, and prolific Bible commentator whose works, especially his Notes on the New Testament and Notes on the Old Testament, became widely used in the 19th century. He was also active in the social issues of his day and contributed to theological education and church reform through his extensive writings and teaching.
