Exclusivism

Albert Barnes critiques denominational exclusivism—Episcopalians, Baptists, and certain Scotch Presbyterians. He outlines their exclusionary practices on ministry, baptism, and communion.

Albert Barnes was an influential American Presbyterian theologian, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, and prolific Bible commentator whose works, especially his Notes on the New Testament and Notes on the Old Testament, became widely used in the 19th century. He was also active in the social issues of his day and contributed to theological education and church reform through his extensive writings and teaching.
