A Discourse Designed to Commemorate the Discovery of New-York by Henry Hudson

Samuel Miller’s 1809 discourse commemorates Henry Hudson’s 1609 discovery of New York, recounting early voyages (Cabot, Verrazzano) and the European colonial context of exploration.

The second professor at Princeton Theological Seminary, Miller was a prolific writer, and diligent minster of the gospel, who was widely recognized as a leader in 19th century American Presbyterianism. Many of his works remain in print today.
