John Holt Rice (1777 – 1831) was an American Presbyterian minister, educator, and theologian who served in Virginia as pastor, taught at Hampden-Sydney College, and became the first Professor of Christian Theology at Union Theological Seminary, helping shape early 19th-century Presbyterian education and ministry. He was also active in wider church efforts such as representing the Bible Society of Virginia at the founding of the American Bible Society and was elected president of the College of New Jersey but chose to focus on theological education until his death.
