A Sermon Preached in the Second Presbyterian Church, Albany, July 13, 1856, the Sabbath Morning Immediately Succeeding the Interment of John I. Boyd, and Archibald Campbell

William B. Sprague’s sermon on Psalm 25:21: Christian integrity—right moral discernment and consistent obedience—preserves believers from reproach, remorse, and ruin.

A prolific preacher and author, Sprague is also known as the “Patriarch of American Collectors,” for his collection of autographs, including those of every signer of the Declaration of Independence, pamphlets and other materials. He authored the Annals of the American Pulpit, an important collection of biographical sketches.
