William Marshall

Biographical sketch of Rev. William Marshall (c.1740–1802), an Associate Presbyterian minister in America. Covers his ministry, disputes over union and church property, and role in forming the Associate Synod.

A prolific preacher and author, Sprague is also known as the “Patriarch of American Collectors,” for his collection of autographs, including those of every signer of the Declaration of Independence, pamphlets and other materials. He authored the Annals of the American Pulpit, an important collection of biographical sketches.
