James Bannerman

1807–1868

James Bannerman (1807–1868) was a Scottish Presbyterian theologian and pastor who became a leading figure in the Free Church of Scotland after the Disruption of 1843 and served as professor of apologetics and pastoral theology at New College, Edinburgh. He was best known for his scholarly writings on the nature of the church and biblical inspiration, especially his influential work The Church of Christ.
